Painting TIPS

Where to begin. Prepare the surface by making sure that it is as clean and dry as possible to prevent poor bonding and subsequent flaking and peeling. For best results, follow the recommended painting systems.

Helpful hints. Work in daylight. Begin near the windows and work inwards. When painting a whole room, work from the ceiling and cornices to the walls, to the window frames, doors and then the skirting boards.

Use good brushes and rollers for a good finish with minimum spattering. Always dip the brush up to half of the length of the bristles to prevent te paint from running back into ferrule leading to hardening of the bristles.

Paint disposal: a responsibility to the environment. Never pour unwanted paint down drains. Allow the paints to dry out in their containers before disposing of them in rubbish bins.
